Applied directly from the paint tubes, this work by Fred Yates has an almost relief feel, so thick is the paint. A joyful and exuberant expression of Fred's view from his French home.

A beautiful, impasto rendering of a still life in front of Fred's window, over-looking a French river. We challenge anyone to look at this painting, and not smile. It exudes summer warmth and joie de vivre. Fred Yates would have pressed the paint onto the canvas straight from the tube in many places. Anecdotally, at this stage in his career, Fred would buy-out whole artists' supply shops of their stock of paint, so great was his need! Still Life over River is presented in a lovely walnut frame and protected behind museum glass.
